Nuno has an academic background on Physical Education, Marine Biology, Electronic Engineering and management. Such a combination places him in a very unique position to teach scuba diving. He is an avid explorer, both in cave and ocean environments, participating in several projects and running some himself.
Currently Nuno works as a University Professor, at UALG, as Scientific Diving Safety Officer and Instructor at CCMAR Marine Research Centre. He performs several scientific diving tasks and is currently finishing his Master in Marine Biology.
A message:
“Passion for scuba diving has driven my life since I had the opportunity to try it, needless to say that having studied Physical Education and Sciences of Sports, the “bug” to teach and pass on to others my accumulated knowledge and experience soon took over. As new instructor I soon realized being a professional would allow more dedication to teaching and project diving. You might wonder why I make mention of becoming a professional instructor, though this is one of the aspects that in my opinion differentiates the quality of teaching.
A true professional, fully dedicated to scuba diving, one that breaths, and lives scuba diving in his daily life, being teaching, diving, doing exploration, and is engaged in the industry, will always be better prepared and more experienced then one that teaches one course from time to time, when some friends ask him to.
This vision also pushed me to become a GUE Instructor, I wanted to teach all I knew, in the best way I knew. Being already a Master PADI Instructor, and SSI advanced Instructor was simply not satisfying, since I found myself too often asking myself “who wrote this?”, I wanted more, and to be able to deliver more. I wanted to be prouder of my students, and wanted them to be proud of their training which would allow them to enjoy so much more.
I currently teach the GUE curriculum, pretty much all over the world, even though my main base is Europe, specially Portugal and Spain.
I’m always happy to help out and answer any questions, so if you have any doubts do not hesitate in contacting me.
Enjoy your diving!!!
Nuno”
